Welcome to the Walt Disney Imagineering

Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of Disney’s Parks and Resorts business segment. Representing more than 150 disciplines, its talented corps of Imagineers are responsible for the creation of Disney resorts, theme parks and attractions, hotels, water parks, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, cruise ships and new media technology projects. 

What You’ll Do:

Define, analyze, and validate deterministic solutions for large scale, fail-safe motion control systems

• System Definition
• System Performance Analysis
• Control System Architecture
• Detailed Design Specifications
• Understand / Review Electrical Layout (e.g. single line drawing) & Mechanical Drawings (e.g. pneumatic diagram)
• Operator Interface Descriptions (for e.g. Consoles, Human Machine Interfaces)
• Hazard Analysis
• Test Strategies and Test Plans

Specify, design, and implement operator intensive, safety-critical control software using real-time operating systems

• Theory of Operation
• Software Design Document
• Debug / Software Integration Test

Install, integrate, and test high capacity, man-rated control systems domestically and overseas

• I/O Checkout
• System Functions Testing
• Fault Testing
• Adjusting / Tuning
• Acceptance Testing using Earned Value tracking 

What To Bring:

• At least 6 (ask Scott to advise) years of professional experience
• Ability to Travel (week-to-month-long business trips; design reviews, manufacturing, testing etc. may require travel to domestic and international facilities)

• Strong Ladder Logic Experience (preferably using Studio 5000; preferably experience with Add-On Instructions, User-Defined Types, Safety Certified Instructions)
• Fail-Safe Control Experience (competent at creating safety timing analysis)
• Strong State Machine Design Experience (documentation of the system’s dynamic behavior)
• Human Machine Interface Development Experience
• Messaging and Logging Experience
• Simulator Experience
• Version Control Experience
• Troubleshooting Skills Experience (especially on-site or in the field)
• Able to Handle Demanding, Stressful Assignments 
• Knowledge of Software Development Tools (Integrated Development Environment (IDE), compilers, linkers, debuggers, etc.)
• Knowledge of C++
• Knowledge of Python Scripting
