
Paralegal
Job Summary:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The China Legal team aims to foster organizational efficiency by providing professional, proactive, timely and high quality in-house legal services. The team is seeking a motivated, well-organized paralegal to support in-house lawyers on a wide range of legal matters related to licensing business, corporate legal affairs, Studio and content distribution, and other business and supporting functions in the China region. The successful candidate will also provide administrative support to various members of the China Legal team, including contract administration and chop management functions to support other business initiatives in China.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support China Legal team with preliminary review and preparation of contracts, legal documents and business correspondence in dual language (Chinese and English).
- Prepare and revise preliminary drafts of forms and templates for content or merchandise licensing as well as their marketing and promotion.
- General corporate works, such as administration of corporate records and annual filing, prepare and revise agreements for general corporate functions.
- Regulatory filing and corporate administration tasks including preparation and collection of documents and submission of documents to government authorities under instructions from the China Legal team.
- Legal research tasks and other administrative functions for China Legal team
- Translation services from time to time.
- Respond to routine enquiries from other internal functions such as finance, tax, facilities and IT colleagues.
- Contract administration and chop management tasks including arranging execution, chopping, filing and distribution of approved contracts, forms, certificates and other legal documents to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Legal billing administration including internal coordination and liaising with law firms’ billing departments.
- Review operating practices and implement improvements where necessary.
- Other ad-hoc projects as required by the China Legal Affairs team.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Internal
- Works under the supervision of senior and junior lawyers of the China Legal department.
- Close working relationships with other colleagues in the China Legal department.
- Working relationships with various internal clients and stakeholders.
External
- While this role primarily supports the China Legal team and internal stakeholders, daily work may also involve contact with vendors, licensees, business partners, providers of professional services and other external parties.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education/Training
- University graduate
- A degree in Law is preferred but not mandatory
- Prior Experience
- 2-3 years’ experience as a paralegal or contract administrator in a law firm, corporate legal department or multinational company
- English-Chinese translation experience including preparation and review of bilingual documentation
- Computer proficiency and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite

KNOWLEDGE
- knowledge of fundamentals of intellectual property, commercial and corporate laws.
- Familiar with the legal services/practices and the standards of such services/practices of multinational companies.
