APAC controllership team is responsible for in-market controllership matters including corporate governance, process optimization, compliance, etc., as well as management and statutory accounting for all the businesses in the region. The APAC regional accounting team provides high quality accounting service in support of the various Business Segments across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC).

This role is responsible for leading and managing the accounting for 1 or multiple lines of businesses in APAC. The role is expected to lead a high performing team, and will engage with key stakeholders within the various Lines of Business, Controllership, Executives, and Center of Excellence within TWDC.  The individual is expected to possess a comprehensive working knowledge of US / local GAAP and systems (primarily SAP). Leadership skills, business knowledge and communication skills are all critical for the role.

Responsibility

  • Responsible for accounting and reporting for 1 or multiple lines of business across various APAC geographies
  • Lead the team to prepare and /or support preparation of management / statutory financial reports under each local GAAP / US GAAP
  • Work with US Segment Controllership team on various control, process and accounting matters
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audit processes (including quarterly reviews and year end US GAAP audits, APAC country statutory audits and SOX compliance)
  • Managing and engaging the team members that will effectively support above responsibilities
  • Maintain a collaborative environment across functions
  • Projects as assigned

Areas of Accountability

  • Accountable to the regional accounting senior manager for all the responsibilities
  • Accountable to the finance counterparts to ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial transactions and data

Experience and Professional Qualifications Required

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or related major
  • CPA or equivalent highly preferred
  • Solid Knowledge of both USGAAP and IFRS
  • Written and verbal English fluency
  • Experience in working with both Big 4 audit firms and multinational company, preferred in a regional role
  • Experience in preparing and presenting financial and management reporting deliverables
  • Experience in maintaining and monitoring financial controls
  • Experience in leading teams
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage on-time delivery of effective solutions
  • Strong understanding of compliance implications and controls impacting business areas
  • Decision-making in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to drive enthusiasm and to inspire teamwork with a commitment to excellence
  • Demonstrated strong negotiating, mentoring, influencing, organizational, planning and partnership skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize based on organizational mission and values
